08/28/12 2012-2013 Legendary Season Announcement
The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall announces its Legendary 2012-2013 Season, including some of the biggest and brightest stars in entertainment. Sarasota premieres feature Sheryl Crow, John Legend, Queen Latifah, Celtic Woman and John Lithgow while returning favorites include Diana Krall, Glen Campbell, The Beach Boys, Paul Anka, Johnny Mathis, Dave Koz and Natalie Cole. The Broadway Season is highlighted by the weeklong engagement of The New 25th Anniversary Production of Les Misérables, and features premieres of Catch Me If You Can and The Addams Family. The Great American Orchestra Series includes The Philadelphia Orchestra and The Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra. The Bravo Dance series offers edgy, new performances from Motionhouse and MOMIX , as well as performances from Parsons Dance and Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance.

Sarasota – John Legend will make his Sarasota premiere, opening the Van Wezel season, Fri. Oct. 19, 2012 @ 8 PM. Powerhouse Anita Baker makes her appearance Sun. Nov. 18, 2012 @ 7 PM. Tickets go ON SALE this Friday, August 17 at 10 AM.

01/17/12 GRANTS MAKE DIFFERENCE IN LIVES OF VAN WEZEL PATRONS, YOUNG AND OLD
In the past several months the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall has received two very special grants: a Schooltime Performances grant from the Roberta Leventhal Sudakoff Foundation and a Senior Access to the Arts grant from the Eluned and Edward Russell Charitable Foundation. Grants were also received from the Cordelia Lee Beattie Foundation and The Community Redevelopment Act which both contribute to funding for the Schooltime Performances Program and the Total Access to the Arts Program. The Van Wezel has also welcomed team member Shelli Freeland Eddie, Esq. on board as the Grants and Resource Development Officer.
