UPDATES REGARDING CORONAVIRUS / COVID-19

 

UPDATE (4/16/2020)

The Van Wezel’s performance starring America on March 19, 2020 has been rescheduled for March 10, 2021 at 8 p.m.

The Van Wezel’s Box Office will follow up with patrons directly affected by this change. 

Our community during the COVID-19 pandemic has been incredibly gracious. Patrons who wish to attend the rescheduled show can keep their tickets for the future performance, which will be honored for the new date. We hope patrons who have purchased tickets and will not be attending the rescheduled performance will consider donating the price of their tickets. This generous action will enable the Hall to deliver on world class entertainment, bring arts integrated learning to children, families and educators, and invest in the power of the human spirit.

UPDATE (4/6/2020)

The Van Wezel’s performances of Come From Away originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 28 through Sunday, May 3 have been rescheduled for Tuesday, November 24 through Sunday, November 29. These performances will be part of the 2020-2021 Subscription Series, which will be announced soon.

Show dates and times include:

Tuesday, November 24 – 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday, November 25 – 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, November 26 – No Show (Thanksgiving)
Friday, November 27 – 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, November 28 – 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Sunday, November 29 – 1 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

The Van Wezel’s Box Office will be following up with patrons directly affected by this change.

Patrons with tickets for the Thursday, April 30 performance will be automatically placed in the Sunday, November 29 performance at 6:30 p.m. if they wish to attend the rescheduled showing. For patrons affected by a cancellation or postponement, we hope they will consider donating the price of the ticket. This generous action will enable the Hall to continue to deliver on world class entertainment, bring arts integrated learning to children, families and educators, and invest in the power of the human spirit.

  • The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall regrets to announce that the performances of An American in Paris scheduled for March 16, 2020 have been canceled in light of the situation surrounding COVID-19.

The Van Wezel’s Box Office will be following up with patrons directly affected by this cancellation.


UPDATE (3/23/20)

  • The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall regrets to announce that both performances of A Bronx Tale, scheduled for April 21 & 22, 2020, have been canceled in light of the situation surrounding COVID-19.
  • The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall regrets to announce that our Brian Culbertson performance, scheduled for April 23, 2020, has been canceled in light of the situation surrounding COVID-19.

Please fill out and submit the form HERE to let us know how you want to proceed with your tickets. Disregard the option to keep your tickets as there is no plan to reschedule in the near future.

  • The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall regrets to announce that The Pointer Sisters’ performance scheduled for April 2, 2020 has been canceled in light of the situation surrounding COVID-19. The theater hopes to reschedule their performance at a later date.
  • The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall regrets to announce that Jackie Evancho’s performance scheduled for April 3, 2020 has been canceled in light of the situation surrounding COVID-19. The theater hopes to reschedule her performance at a later date.
  • The Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall's performance of Reza: Edge of Illusion originally scheduled for April 11, 2020 has been moved to January 25, 2021.

  • The Bachelor Live On Stage scheduled for May 7, 2020 at the Van Wezel has been canceled. The Van Wezel’s Box Office will be following up with patrons directly affected by this change.
  • An Evening with Chris Botti scheduled for April 19, 2020 at the Van Wezel has been rescheduled for March 14, 2021. 
  • Terry Fator’s performance scheduled for April 10, 2020 at the Van Wezel has been rescheduled for Saturday, January 16, 2021.
  • In light of the situation surrounding COVID-19, the Harry Connick Jr. - True Love: An Intimate Performance scheduled for March 20, 2020 has been canceled. 

UPDATE (3/18/20)

The following shows have been rescheduled:

  • Johnny Mathis: The Voice of Romance Tour on April 16, 2020 at the Van Wezel has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
  • One Night of Queen scheduled for May 6, 2020 at the Van Wezel has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 15, 2021.
  • An Evening with Bruce Hornsby on March 29, 2020 has been rescheduled for November 17, 2020.

Patrons who wish to attend the rescheduled performance should keep their tickets, which will be honored for the new performance date. The Van Wezel’s Box Office will be following up with patrons directly affected by this cancellation.

In light of the City of Sarasota’s recent declaration of a public health emergency, the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall has suspended events through March 31, 2020, effective immediately.

Shows impacted at the Van Wezel include:

  • An American in Paris (March 16 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.)
  • The Choir of Man (March 17 at 8 p.m.)
  • John Pizzarelli & Catherine Russell: A Tribute to Nat King Cole and the Ladies of Song (March 18 at 8 p.m.)
  • America (March 19 at 8 p.m.)
  • Harry Connick, Jr. True Love: An Intimate Performance (March 20 at 8 p.m.)
  • Ringling Town Hall: Lisa Genova (March 23 at 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.)*
  • Up, Up and Away starring Marilyn McCoo & Billy Davis, Jr. (March 24 at 8 p.m.)
  • Sarasota Ballet: Romeo & Juliet (March 27-28)*
  • An Evening with Bruce Hornsby (March 29 at 7 p.m.)

Previously rescheduled shows in this timeframe include An Intimate Evening with David Foster: HITMAN Tour Featuring Special Guest Katharine McPhee (originally March 22, 2020, rescheduled for January 31, 2021) and Itzhak Perlman in Recital (originally March 21, 2020, rescheduled for March 8, 2021).

The hall views the health and safety of the audiences, visiting artists and staff as the highest priority, and has greatly increased the frequency and thoroughness of cleaning measures throughout the theater.
