Backstage and Art Tours are conducted by the Fine Arts Society of Sarasota and the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall.
The art collection of the Fine Arts Society is on permanent exhibit at the Van Wezel. Tour guides will walk you through the gallery of paintings and sculptures of Florida's most renowned artists. The guided tour also offers the opportunity to go behind the scenes of the Van Wezel for a look at the workings backstage. View the myriad of ropes, pulleys and flys for creating scenery and special effects, the movable orchestra pit, dressing rooms, hydraulic lifts, rehearsal rooms and the Green Room where performers relax between shows.
Tours are offered to the public the first Tuesday of the month, October through May. Tours begin at 10am in the Main Lobby and cost $5 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the Box Office or by calling Click to call (941) 263-6799. Proceeds benefit the Van Wezel's Education / Outreach Programs, Community Engagement and the Fine Arts Society. The Fine Arts Society of Sarasota
The Fine Arts Society of Sarasota is a not-for-profit organization that was founded in 1969. The Society provides cultural and educational opportunities for its members and organizes projects, which benefit the entire community and its many visitors. It remains faithful to its original objectives:
- To promote and stimulate an appreciation of the Arts in Sarasota County
- To expand and manage a permanent collection of art by nationally-recognized as well as newly-established artists from the State of Florida
- To provide scholarships and grants to Sarasota County qualified students for studies in the various fields of Fine Arts
Since its founding, The Fine Arts Society has given financial assistance to talented and needy students. This continuing commitment supports studies in visual and related arts, dance, writing, music, theater and architecture.
The Society's collection is on permanent display at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall and contains works dating from the 1930's to present day.

May I Smoke?
Smoking is forbidden in any part of the Hall. Smoking areas with ash urns are located outside all doors.
Where are Your Elevators Located?
Elevators are available in both lobbies for easy access to all levels of the Hall, including the Grand Foyer and Auditorium.
Do You Offer Valet Parking?
Valet parking is available.
How Large is the Parking Lot?
The parking lot accommodates 850 vehicles and is accessible from 10th Street and Sixth Street (Boulevard of the Arts) from U.S. 41 (North Tamiami Trail). Please note: Regulations for designated parking areas are posted throughout the parking lot. Violators will be ticketed.
Is There an On-Site Lost and Found?
Items found are turned in to the reception desk located in the Administrative Offices. Hours of pickup are from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. If you need further information please call 941-955-7676.
