Van Wezel RE-OPENING GUIDE
PATHOCIDE® FOGGING SANITIZATION TECHNOLOGY USED AT THE VAN WEZEL
PROVEN TO INACTIVATE SARS-CoV-2 VIRUS
Safety remains a top priority as the Van Wezel begins to bring audiences back into the Hall. The theater has begun a mass-disinfecting fogging process with PathoCide® throughout all spaces used for events. The Van Wezel was notified that, as proven by an independent GLP laboratory, the product can effectively inactivate the SARS-CoV-2 virus in 60 seconds on pre-cleaned surfaces and in 10 minutes on surfaces that are not pre-cleaned when produced by the PathoSans on-site generator at the Hall and used as directed. The theater is following this procedure to sanitize before and after events in the Hall, as well as when performances resume on the main stage, as part of a comprehensive safety initiative.
This fogging procedure, which is also effective against a wide range of bacteria and viruses, will be one step in the full approach to keep patrons, staff and performers safe. High touch areas are being disinfected throughout events, including door handles, handrails, elevator call buttons and counters. Some of the additional measures include an increase in hand sanitizer stations in easily accessible locations, as well as plexiglass installation in the box office. The theater is also looking at magnetometers that can read temperatures as well as touchless ticketing options. Patrons are encouraged to join the Van Wezel’s e-club and follow the theater on social media to stay informed of all developments as protocols evolve.

Masks/face coverings: City buildings are open to the public and face coverings are required. Patrons are encouraged to bring their own masks, however the Van Wezel will have disposable masks available, if necessary.
Hand sanitizer stations will be accessible throughout the facility and event spaces (i.e. lobbies upon entry and grand foyer where event is taking place). Patrons must use hand sanitizer prior to entering the facility.
We will be using a fogging machine to mass disinfect all areas with an environmentally responsible PathoCide sanitizer/disinfectant. Per PathoSans, this is “99.999% effective at killing bacteria within seconds” (PathoSans 2020). These areas will be fogged both prior to and following the event.
High touch areas will be disinfected throughout the event, including door handles, handrails, elevator call buttons, counters, etc.
Bathrooms will be cleaned and disinfected prior to the event, as well as routinely throughout the event. Bathrooms will require limited capacity to encourage social distancing in smaller spaces.
Seating in the Main Hall will be limited to 50% capacity. Theatre seats will be disinfected before every performance. Seats in rows closer than 12’ to the stage edge will not be sold during this time to keep distance from the artists and performers.
All tables will be socially distanced (6’ minimum) from each other and staff will be encouraging social distancing protocols for all persons.
Dedicated ingress and egress doors will be assigned to maintain flow of socially distanced traffic.
Know before you go: Refreshments by Mattison’s at the Van Wezel will be available for purchase outside of the Grand Foyer. Food and beverage will not be permitted in the Hall, and must be consumed outdoors.
We are following guidelines regarding best practices for sanitization, safety and will continue to do so. We also consult weekly with industry leaders and local performance venues and organizations on safety measures.
As we plan to implement new practices, local and national guidelines continue to evolve. We will continue to monitor any changes in directives and inform you of specific plans as we get closer to re-opening.
We appreciate your understanding and patience, and we can't wait to welcome you back to the Van Wezel to enjoy live performances!
