Sarasota has been buzzing with excitement over the past two weeks as the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall wraps up its highly successful two-week run of the critically acclaimed, Tony Award-winning sensation, HAMILTON. During the two-week run, the Hall hosted 16 sold-out performances, making it the most successful show in Van Wezel history, narrowly beating out Disney’s The Lion King in 2019 which saw a 99.61% seating capacity over three weeks.

From March 25 through April 7, audiences were transported back in time to witness the revolutionary tale of Alexander Hamilton. Patrons expressed their delight in having the Broadway Blockbuster here for the first time. As shared by Michelle B. on the Van Wezel Facebook page, “We were blown away. My daughter saw HAMILTON on Broadway, and she said this was just as good. Bravo to the entire cast!”

This was echoed by another patron, Alyssa G., who also shared her thoughts on social media stating, “The show beat any possible expectations! It was absolute perfection.”

On the heels of the successful run of HAMILTON, the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall has released their 2024-2025 Broadway lineup, which includes more hit productions. Headlining next season is Moulin Rouge! The Musical, the Tony Award-Winning Best Musical based on the beloved 2001 film. Other performances include Funny Girl, Les Misérables, Beetlejuice, TINA – The Tina Turner Musical, Dear Evan Hansen, and more.
