Technical Theatre Camp

Interested in the world of backstage and technical theatre?

In partnership with the stagehands’ union local #412, kids aged 12-18 will work with skilled union technicians in hands-on activities that will open their minds to the complexities and possibilities of a life in the theatre that’s behind the scenes. With unprecedented access to the corners of the Van Wezel Performing Arts Hall that the audience never sees, participants will learn from the people who truly know the “business of show”. 

Each day will focus on a specific stagecraft, and participants will build their tech toolbox, with both information AND actual tools of the trade. 

The camp will focus on these five crafts:  

• Carpentry
• Wardrobe/Hair/Makeup
• Electrics
• Flys
• Audio/Visual

Advanced camp will include field trips to FST, Asolo Rep, and WBTT!

We are offering TWO one-week camps. 

Cost is $250/week with financial aid available. Interested campers can take BOTH weeks for a reduced rate of $450.
